What is the proper process to get Permissive Jump Status with my old unit so I can still jump with them? My current unit is in the same brigade as my previous unit, but no one at the brigade level on down seem to know how to initiate this process. I've been told it can be approved at the brigade level, but I've also been told it must be approved at the USARC level. Thanks in advance. How do I jump with another unit in the Reserves?2018-04-19T10:45:58-04:001LT(P) Private RallyPoint Member3558252<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>I was a Rigger on the enlisted side. The unit that you are with right now, are they an airborne unit? Do people actually jump for your unit or are you just hoping to hold onto the status and training? Most units are going to keep someone on jump status if they don't have to because that just means that you're getting paid for something that they aren't getting their money's worth out of. You can double check, but I don't see it happening.Response by SGT Joseph Gunderson made Apr 19 at 2018 1:54 PM2018-04-19T13:54:27-04:002018-04-19T13:54:27-04:00CSM Eric Biggs3558862<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div><a class="dark-link bold-link" role="profile-hover" data-qtip-container="body" data-id="242473" data-source-page-controller="question_response_contents" href="/profiles/242473-88a-transportation-officer">1LT(P) Private RallyPoint Member</a>, Sir you would have to get a memo from your BN Commander. You would also need to have the Airborne unit BN Commander willing to allow you to jump. You would not get paid or receive jump status, it would strictly be voluntary.<br />Take a look at this, it a bit old but I think it’s still current guidance. <a target="_blank" href="http://www.tradoc.army.mil/SGS/CMDPolicyletters/16.%20Delegation%20of%20Authority,%20Permissive%20Parachute%20Jumping.pdf">http://www.tradoc.army.mil/SGS/CMDPolicyletters/16.%20Delegation%20of%20Authority,%20Permissive%20Parachute%20Jumping.pdf</a> <div class="pta-link-card answers-template-image type-default">

Whether your existing unit would want you to get some formal approval or not would depend on your own unit. Key is to be on jump status.Response by LTC Yinon Weiss made Apr 19 at 2018 4:09 PM2018-04-19T16:09:22-04:002018-04-19T16:09:22-04:001SG Private RallyPoint Member3559150<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>Can it be done probably but since you are no longer in an airborne unit there is no reason to waste resources for you to maintain a jump status. You'd have to be put on a paid status to jump with your previous unit and that just takes away from the days that you can perform with the unit you are actually in. If there is no benefit to your command you are assigned to then I'd see no reason to grant it.Response by 1SG Private RallyPoint Member made Apr 19 at 2018 4:28 PM2018-04-19T16:28:32-04:002018-04-19T16:28:32-04:002018-04-19T10:45:58-04:00
