How do I get promoted if I'm prior service?

I have been in the army for 4 years and then I had 3 years in the IRR. I had some issues with PT before but now I'm back in The reserves this time and I've been back in now for 6 months and have yet to have a PT test. I am ready and doing better than ever.
I understand that I have to lift the flag and pass a PT Test. But how do I continue to get promoted? I was an E3 but now E2.

If a failing APFT is holding you back, once you have a passing APFT, then the Flag is to be lifted. If you have met the TIS/TIG requirements, then you will be advanced to PFC

Did you do your SSD 1 yet ? that is a show stopper as well as MRC status and over all readiness. Is your pay, SGLI, dd93 and all that good stuff up to date ?

Pass an APFT and never fail again because it’s too easy to pass. Then promotions should be a breeze.

Pass the PT test and get your flag removed. You should get promoted shortly afterward unless you have disciplinary issues. You have enough TIS for SPC but you will have to wait 6 months. If you strive for it and show you really deserve the next rank, you can pin SPC in 3 months with a waiver.
