How do I get a job in the oil and gas industry after the military?

anyone leave the military and get a job with the oil and gas companies? help, how do I get in. thank you

I ended up going to a community college to get a process tech degree(2year) in order to get hired as an operator

SCPO Private RallyPoint Member, if you're serious about getting into the industry, the Bakken Oilfields of North Dakota is where you need to be searching right now. I know of about a dozen Soldiers who are now working full-time, year-round in various facets of the industry up there. All of them love what they are doing. I was able to reach out to two of them this morning, and they both referred me to this website, as this is the one the proved instrumental in them landing their jobs. If you do a Google search of Bakken Oilfield jobs, you will find plenty of other sources as well. I hope this helps.

It all depends upon your skills and the job that you’re seeking. There are companies that will train you if needed.
The Bakken Shale in North Dakota, Eagle Ford Shale in south Texas, and the Permian Basin (6 formations in & around Midland, TX) in West Texas / New Mexico are all on fire.
Whatever you do, DO NOT PAY A FEE FOR A JOB!
There is the Marcellus Shale in eastern Ohio, West Virginia, Pennsylvania, and Nee York. The Uinta Basin in eastern Utah. The Brown Dense in southern Arkansas. The Haynesville Shale in East Texas. The Tuscaloosa Marine Shale along the gulf coast from about Houston, TX across to Alabama. Barnett Shale in the Ft Worth area and to the west. The Marble Falls formation in south central Oklahoma and in to north Texas. Whatever the formation is in NE Colorado, Southern Colorado (Rifle area), Los Angeles basin, Bakersfield area.

First identify what formation where you want to work, then simply use search terms like “West Texas oilfield jobs”, “Bakken Shale jobs”, etc.. there are tens of thousands of jobs out there and it’s just getting better with oil prices holding steady over $60/bbl.

Halliburton.com
Schlumberger.com
Those are the biggest oilfield service companies in the world and they do job applications through their websites.
