How do I get a job in Texas when I live in California?

I desperately want to move out of this state, and I am working on getting temporary employment in California so I can save money to move. The biggest hurdle is having to get a job in Texas before I move. How can I do this with no Texas address, no Texas ID and no residency?

I also have very little money. Just enough to afford the gas to get there. I am looking for odd-jobs and temporary work so I can save up about $1000

It's Texas just say "I'm a Californian desperately trying to get to the promised land" and you'll have a job in no time, some of those companies may even be willing to fit some of your moving expenses to help save someone from their socialist fate.

I know of a few jobs in Arizona. If you aren't totally married to Texas as a destination.

You may want to post on criegs list and some of the local job boards, but...if you had to move and move now, you could look for an elderly or disabled person to move in with, some of them are fairly willing to take in borders in trade for assistance and meh, so you mow a few lawns and all that till you get on your feet.

My company is hiring here in San Antonio. We shuttle new trucks and load them onto railcars at the Toyota plant on the south side of town. Would be happy to help you get started in Texas!

Just don't bring California politics with you and you'll be fine.

As far as seeking employment, there are PLENTY of jobs in Texas to look for with a GDP roughly equivalent to that of Australia. Also, I'm not sure about your service status, but if you are/were Guard I know that there are possibilities to transfer between states. My wife is a CPT in the MDARNG and she moved from Missouri in 2013 to transfer over there to be with me.

There are plenty of options available.

I moved from California in 1999 to my present HOR with two relatives, who have since left. We sold most everything, except the essentials to get by with in our new state. The money we collected helped us move, rent a two-bedroom apartment, and get signed up with a temp agency. In a week, all three of us were working, until we could find permanent jobs. Moving, even just down the block is not cheap, much less to another state. Plan it out, be ready to be homesick, if you still have relatives in California, until you make your adopted state home. I assume you have identified what kind of job you want? I am assuming you have a good resume? Besides going on line to apply for jobs (this isn't the most efficient way), target a couple of cities in TX and about five companies and begin doing research on them. Find out what their turnover is, and contact people from those companies on LinkedIn. There is a Veterans Mentor Program Group you can join there (I'm in it) who can help. Call the companies' HR and ask who you can talk to who hires the kind of jobs you want. You are trying to network from afar. It won't be easy, but you may get some traction.
