How do I find a TPU 70B PL position? Will it hurt my career as a 70B to take a PL position outside my branch? https://www.rallypoint.com/answers/how-do-i-find-a-tpu-70b-pl-position-will-it-hurt-my-career-as-a-70b-to-take-a-pl-position-outside-my-branch

I have recently relocated across the country and I am having a hard time finding a TPU PL position. All the units the RCC NCO and units I have found with the position vacancy tool on hrc.mil, have said they are over strengthened in 70Bs. I do not believe I am being told this because of my lack of experience, but my issue is that I don’t have the know how to find a PL position. I have 9 years of prior service, great NCOERs, and even better OER. During my position hunt I have found units in other branches that are willing to accept me into a PL, as long as I am willing to eventually reclass.

So my questions are, will it hurt my career as a 70B to take PL position outside my branch? Should I just reclass to a branch that offers more opportunities? Can I even reclass being that my commissioning source is direct commission? Or, how do I find a TPU 70B PL position? You’re considering a Branch Transfer from MS to (?) (ILO Reclass). You’re looking for a TPU position as a PL, in Europe..? You can fill a 01A position, but you’d want to be evaluated as a PL when that time comes. Not much will hurt your career at this point, but you do want to focus on a direction. You can branch transfer prior to PH 2 of CCC, but you'd need to discuss with your branch manager and find knowledgeable ppl to discuss YOUR options, interests, etc. You’d likely want to discuss with a SME in MS and the branch you’re considering. 70B isn’t meant to be your forever AOC, just that you’ve completed BOLC. I’m MS and my AOC is 70F/70B. What branch are you considering? I was sent to MP OBC (my non branch position), due to the USAR civilian unit personnel. But good things happen to those that follow the Army rules. There are several positions within a Combat Support Hospital and even more in a General Hospitals, but there are very few left. There are no better USAR assignments than our branch. Plenty of mobility up if all military schools, civilian schooling completed. Hope this little info helps. I would also contact Cpt Julie Cothern. she has a fresher outlook more so than me. I retired June 2010. But if you listened a little and stay in the MS branch it is superior career wise.
