How do I change my re-enlistment code?

So basically while I was in my fiancé was struggling too much without me and she wasn't pregnant but couldn't leave the state to live me with because of an ongoing custody battle of her son, I applied for a hardship discharge multiple times and was denied by a higher up nco who absolutely hated me (long story I take some of the blame) so I chose to fail 2 PT tests and while I was doing that and I had other NCOs who knew my situation and understood it. They tried to put in a good word but my platoon Sgt later turned 1sgt made sure I got a general discharge and a separation code of JHJ. How do I go about changing that? I finally after a year got my family situated and my now wife and I were talking about my re-enlistment but into the Air Force. I have a reentry code 3. Idk if it helps or is relivant but I scored high on the ASVAB (chose to be a grunt still) I don't know if that helps with a waiver or helps the change for re enlistment.

Yeah, I don't think that you are going to get a change to that code. You actually tried to get the boot the last time. The military is not going to invest more time and money into someone who might try that again.

You intentionally arranged to get discharged. What did you expect to happen? Not likely that you will get another chance.

A waiver, I'm not sure. But you won't be able to get your Enlistment code changed unless you can show that the one you were given was done so in error. Which you already admit wasn't, since you wanted to get kicked out.

You can't change it, you can only get a waiver to enlist from the Branch you are enlisting into. That also means you will probably not be eligible for the Air Force. Usually a 3 code requires waiting 3 years before being eligible for a waiver. Most of the other branches will not touch you.

Get with a recruiter about the paperwork for changing it. Tho your reasons are unpleasant to me. What will you do about your oath when deployment time comes and she pitches a hit? You choose her and her struggles the 1st time over your oath, and that might hurt your chances.

You wanted to get out so why you want your recode change? You wanna get back in but you was begging to get out!! You took the sorry way out of the situation and now you regret it; oh well!

But you have a recode 3 and JHJ is for performance and it it’s just PT then you will have to wait the waiting period when you was separated and then prove to the military you can pass a PT test!

It’s easier to get back in the military than get a discharged upgraded. Hopefully in the future you make better decision and don’t be stupid!

With all due respect PFC D. B., You are telling a group of military service members and Veterans on the internet that you deliberately failed the APFT twice in order to get discharged because the CoC denied a hardship discharge in a circumstance concerning a non-family member (at the time).
That is not smart, to say the least.
The discharge reason is valid, as is the characterization of service.
You can blame the PSG or 1SG, but it was the commander who made that call.
And it was you that created the circumstances that led to that decision.

Your best option to get back in is to apply for a waiver, which you might well receive if the deciding officer never gets wind that your APFT failures were purposeful.

I am sure that what you did seemed like the best decision at the time, but that decision has consequences.

I was in the army national guard have a bit of a situation so i got in a bit of a tiff with a sargent that just got her stripes in pre mob and got sent bk for a psyc evaluation never went to drill that month and was pregnant so was discharged I believe just for the pregnancy and not having someone to take custody while i went over never recieved a copy of my dd 214 do you think I can rejoin

Your situation will be a rough one I’m not gunna lie. But if you do happen to find someone willing to take on that battle you better pass the APFT with flying colors. No one will take you seriously with a 180. But by the time you prolly get the chance it’ll be acft so get strong!
