Dry humor, he said I could stay at home but I will be paying rent $80 a month regardless of a job or not, and responsible for my own clothes washing and keeping my room tidy (which I did anyway). (1969). I was working at a diary farm early morning and afternoon milkings,, mowing lawns (I had 15 clients) and four nights a week I worked at Pederson Farms catching chickens for processing) I also repaired small engines as I seemed to have a knack for it. <br />I told him I wanted to go in the Coast Guard, my love of boats. My brother was already in the Navy on Nuke Subs. He said, what's wrong with the Air Force (which he spent part of WWII in Australia and eventually retired from in 1959) I said nothing, I can swim, I can't fly.. So that September I left.
