Not counting all down-ticket and off-year elections, Presidential elections only, I have participated in 8 (9 after Tuesday). My most desirable primary candidate has been the nominee 6 times, and the nominee I voted for has won 4 times. If I was going to base my future actions on past performance, I might agree with you. The fact is there are a lot of citizens out there voting, for better or worse reasons, for better or worse candidates, and I prefer it that way.

Elections prevent Civil Wars. Go to a popular vote and get rid of the electoral college. The parties that get a certain percentage of the votes will become qualified parties. Any money raised by any party goes to a general fund where it will be equally distributed among the qualifying parties. All qualifying parties will then be on equal footing for campaigning. For voting purposes , all registered voters would receive a voters identification card with a picture, address, and microchip with bio-matrix loaded much like the CAC card. The card would be validated and then used while voting.
