How can I get into the 82nd as a 68W in AIT?

Currently I'm in 68W AIT and I'm trying to get into the 82nd is there any recruiting division I could call to try and get in this unit,My AIT does offer it but only to the top 5% ?

Volunteer for airborne at ait. From there, it’s a limited amount of units you could be placed in. Look up abn units and so how few there are.

Volunteer for airborne school. Majority of us went to Bragg, but there’s still a chance you could end up in Alaska or Italy. If you stay airborne though you’re almost guaranteed to end up at Bragg at least once in your career.

Private RallyPoint Member The path to the 82d goes through Airborne School. Volunteer for Airborne School. It will get you to an Airborne unit in a paid parachute position (PPP). Among those is the 82d, but could also be 4/25, 173d, an SF group or a few others.

What is "it"? "...My AIT does offer it but only to the top 5% ?"

Do only the top 5% get offered an Airborne slot?

Fall out a high performance AC 5 times and you’ll have a better shot at getting to the 82nd. If you’re missing the P identifier, you’ll have a harder time getting there.

You should be able to volunteer for Airborne school unless they changed things. If you don’t get it then go to airborne school when you get to your first unit.

Was in your shoes only a few months ago with Charlie co. When it comes time to take your record apft, you better get well over 300. Run til you’re gonna die, then keep running.

My Understanding is You either needed to have contracted at MEPS for 68W with airborne school specifically in the contract, or the schoolhouse states that airborne slots opened up and they are looking for X number of people interested in going with a change in their orders. Sometimes when you get orders to a duty station where airborne units are present you may matriculate into those units and get the school but it’s not like you can walk into anyone’s office and say you want to go airborne and poof! You go airborne.

Well I worked really hard and got the slot thank you for all of you guys that helped me out and hopefully after a couple more weeks should be going airborne and then hopefully in the 82nd
