SPC Private RallyPoint Member6940979

My husband and I are dual military, in AIT, and living in on post housing. This is our fifth paycheck without receiving BAH. The money is being taken directly from his paychecks, so we’ve essentially been living off of my paycheck. I’ve talked to 6/8 of my Drill Sergeants, including my senior Drill Sergeant, and the First Sergeant and Commander know as well. We notified them of the issue our first paycheck, and were told it would be fixed, but it still hasn’t. How can I get this issue fixed? We were told we aren’t allowed to go to finance and are receiving practically no help or sympathy from our Drill Sergeants, with the exception of one. Any advice would be appreciated. How can I fix my BAH issues?2021-04-30T23:11:44-04:00SPC Private RallyPoint Member6940979

My husband and I are dual military, in AIT, and living in on post housing. Could also try using the Open Door Policy for BN.

I do have a question or two:

1) What exactly is being deducted from your husbands pay?
2) The Cadre are allowing you two to live in On Post Housing and not the barracks in AIT?Response by MSG Private RallyPoint Member made Apr 30 at 2021 11:48 PM2021-04-30T23:48:16-04:002021-04-30T23:48:16-04:00CSM Darieus ZaGara6941414

To be clear, I want to understand so that you are being given skin advice. You live in on base housing where you r BAH is to be remitted. The BAH is coming from your husbands paycheck, if that is the case then this would be correct. He should still have his basic pay after taxes? So if this is the scenario there is nothing wrong. If I am assessing this incorrectly reach out to the Battalion as stated by SFC Livingston.Response by CSM Darieus ZaGara made May 1 at 2021 5:09 AM2021-05-01T05:09:23-04:002021-05-01T05:09:23-04:00SSG Private RallyPoint Member6941444

I have a question.

Did you marry another AIT individual and then move into housing? How on earth are both you and your husband in the same AIT?

6/8 drills haven’t been helpful? Have you talked to DS Hiltibidal? Why haven’t you requested to use the BC’s open door policy ?

Also, the fact that you were able to move into on post housing while both you and your husband are in AIT is 100% wrong. It should not have happened because y’all shouldn’t be in the same AIT.Response by SSG Private RallyPoint Member made May 1 at 2021 5:55 AM2021-05-01T05:55:15-04:002021-05-01T05:55:15-04:002LT Brian L.6942018

Im starting to hate seeing mommy daddy games on this forum... your Drill Sergeants are taking care of the issue. This doesn't fix itself in one day.. .the Army has many many other Soldiers to take care of and your turn will happen. Never expect sympathy in the Army empathy yes but sympathy should not be expected. All of the money the Army owes you will be paid to you. If you are in off base housing then you must be in AIT and is your husband attending AIT as well? Typically this issue just takes a few visits to S1 so with you being off base and not in the barracks I imagine you have a car and a lot more freedom than someone at BCT so go to your S1 or let the Drill Sergeants fix it. I'm not really sure if you were expecting someone to tell you that ignoring your problem. What unit are you with?Response by 2LT Brian L. made May 1 at 2021 10:10 AM2021-05-01T10:10:53-04:002021-05-01T10:10:53-04:00LTC Ken Pruitt6942429

Go to finance! Your Drill Sergeants, Senior Drill Sergeant, First Sergeant, and Commander have failed to take care of a soldier and spouse. Finance can give you a current status and ensure you are correctly established in the Dual BAH program. At least, get the facts! In some cases, BAH is not authorized while attending military training. Can be confusing! However, Finance is the solution.Response by LTC Ken Pruitt made May 1 at 2021 1:53 PM2021-05-01T13:53:16-04:002021-05-01T13:53:16-04:00LTC Jason Mackay6942434

Let’s step back a minute...
- did you fill out a DA Form 5960 to start BAH?
- how did you sign for quarters without a 5960 filled out by the contractor?
- Were you cleared from UPH and receive your termination of UPH memo?
- when you talked to your leaders did anyone have you initiate a pay inquiry?
- verify the policy. I believe the senior soldier in the marriage is supposed to get the BAH when collocated. You need to check the LES for each entitlement and deduction.
- your husband needs to do all this too.Response by LTC Jason Mackay made May 1 at 2021 1:56 PM2021-05-01T13:56:47-04:002021-05-01T13:56:47-04:002021-04-30T23:11:44-04:00
