Ruck March standard is found in 350-1. Water is in addition to your weighed ruck. At the end of the 10K, they will weigh your ruck minus water. If you are under your weight, you will repeat the event for a go. If you don’t finish within 108min (I believe was the maximum allotted time) you will redo.

10K is 6.21 miles, 5K is exactly half of that. The route is mostly flat. Time is 106 minutes and weight is 30% of body weight or 48 pounds. Candidates will carry a weapon.

To prepare I did foot marches on my own once a week in addition to my normal workout routine. I was able to complete it in well under the time limit and I was 51 years old. Make sure you train in the boots you will ruck in at WOCS. Start with 25 -30 pounds and increse the weight over time until you are comfortable with the 48 pounds. Gradually increasing the weight will prevent injuries - don’t overtrain.

I recommend going into WOCS in top physical condition as it will help with stress and keep you mentally sharp for the academic rigors on little sleep. You are setting yourself up for success by seeking to prepare.

Good luck! It could be different when you go to WOCS. Also, there's nothing in the WOCSOP that will help you with your foot march. Just go out there and ruck. Make sure your ruck is adjusted properly and your boots are broken in.
