How can I do a LAT move to the EOD community? What is the school like? Do you have any tips to help this process?

I know you have to be at least a Corporal in the USMC, and that I am still only a poolee, but I am highly interested in the mos 2336 EOD Technician. I was wondering if there are any former or active EODs on this site willing to tell me about how to LAT move to this MOS, what the school is like, any tips to help this process be smoother for me when the time comes and to help a dream come true. Thank you.

If you are set on being EOD and the Marines are not a guaranteed choice, every single branch has EOD, and they all go to the same school. It comes down to how the MOS is managed by different branches. For instance, in the Navy you will go to Airborne School, in the Army you probably will not but, you might not be guaranteed a job in EOD when you enlist in the Navy or airforce, but in the army your MOS is guaranteed. You should take some time to determine what branch is going to meet your needs the most.

I was EOD for all of my 23 years except for basic and 8ish months of Tech School. I also taught at the NAVSCOLEOD School House for 6 years. As some others have mentioned, you have a long way to go to be worried about your next MOS. Having goals is good but the Marines want you to do your job first. Re-enlisting with a new contract for EOD is likely the best path to any MOS. Good luck on boot camp first though.

Do 4 years in any MOS, you will need an ASVAB GT score of 110, first class PFT/CFT (235 or above), normal color vision, and no prior documentation of claustrophobia. None of what I just listed is waiverable. Depending on your screening unit you can’t have any history of drug addiction. Experimentation is fine prior to military service.
