Don't go PowerPoint happy - lots of glitzy slides with animations and graphics. You are more likely lose your message and distract the audience.

For executive briefings, if you can't convey your message in 8 slides, you need to hone your message (I have some bosses that want it in 3 slides).

If a vendor comes to talk to me, I want 3 slides of a presentation, he can have an appendix with supporting data - don't waste my time.

I taught many classes in using digital presentation tools such as PowerPoint and always fell back on the old Army model: (1) Tell 'em what you're gonna tell 'em, (2) Tell 'em, (3) Tell 'em what you told 'em. And do it minimally (KISS) The old rules are the best
