How are you inspired to do more for others?

As leaders, what inspires you to set the right example and do more for others? Provide an example, if you have one.

One of the basic principles of leadership taught in the Marine Corps is, you lead from the front....and you take care of the people in your charge. This was ingrained into me......and following that principle has worked well for me, in the military and then later in my civilian endeavors.

What inspires me? I would say setting the example for the future leaders in our military. As lower enlisted military members, we always see those leaders that have an impact on us, whether it be positive or negative. I always want my soldiers to be set up for success first and myself second. I think many Army leaders forget an important line within the Creed of the Non-Commissioned Officer, which is "My two BASIC responsibilities will ALWAYS be upper most in my mind, the accomplishment of my mission and the WELFARE of my soldiers." As they always say, your Soldiers are a direct reflection of their leadership, while the phrase may be coined too much, it should hold some serious weight when leaders take it into mind.
