Chow is pretty decent. Off post housing is expensive, but a goldmine if you buy. Tons of fun to be had in the area.
4ID loves to be in the field.
Hospital is.....OK, def not the best in terms of Army hospitals.
Aside from the unit, the area rivals Fort Campbell in terms of greatness, as in they're the top 2 posts....but Campbell has a better unit. The barracks were pretty nice (I was in the MP barracks due to overcrowding, and they were new). The DFAC was a little iffy, but the Hot As were good in the field. They were somehow better than the regular DFAC meals (maybe it was psychosomatic). The barracks living will depend on what unit you go to. When I left a few years ago the aviation got new barracks. A lot of the units are meh, but that changes with command. DFACs here were really nice pre COVID, now they aren't bad, just all to go plates and maintaining 6 foot distance Response by SPC Private RallyPoint Member made Jan 9 at 2021 1:29 PM 2021-01-09T13:29:00-05:00 2021-01-09T13:29:00-05:00 SFC Private RallyPoint Member 6649886

Really depends on the unit some of the barracks are older and it is unfortunately they havent been upgraded yet. Either way there is too much stuff to do for minimal to no cost in the area to spend your time in the barracks. Not everyone gets the chance to be stationed in Colorado Springs. All National Parks are free and 100% worth the trip. There are several in the south west, Mesa Verde is a big one. DFACs were decent, I ate there on occasions for breakfast and lunch. I left just before COVID so I am sure that situation has changed a lot.
