I don't know how long you will be there but, there is enough to do in Berlin to last you a couple weeks without needing to visit any other city. Great place....at least it used to be.Response by CSM Private RallyPoint Member made Oct 4 at 2016 9:38 AM2016-10-04T09:38:03-04:002016-10-04T09:38:03-04:00CSM Richard StCyr1945998<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>The Russian WWII military cemetery, The Soldiers who died in the taking of Berlin are buried in huge well manicured mass graves with a statue of Mother Russia looking over the plots. Went there in the 80's as reward for NCO of the year for 2nd SUPCOM while it was still in the DDR on flag orders. Very moving.<br />Don't know if it still exists but the check point Charlie museum was also an interesting site.Response by CSM Richard StCyr made Oct 4 at 2016 10:17 AM2016-10-04T10:17:49-04:002016-10-04T10:17:49-04:00SPC Erich Guenther1946052<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>My first vote is for the Checkpoint Charlie Museum, I did hear it is still there. Second vote would be the Kudam if there are still leaves on the trees in Berlin, that Blvd was sooooo cool to walk down, just the experience of walking down it was nice in the Summer with the bands every so many street corners. Not sure what kind of experience it is in the fall.<br /><br />It's too bad for you that you can no longer see the Russian Military housing or Russian Troops. I was stunned to see both back in 1985.Response by SPC Erich Guenther made Oct 4 at 2016 10:38 AM2016-10-04T10:38:38-04:002016-10-04T10:38:38-04:00SGT Patrick Reno1947152<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>Have a good trip Col. The person was a citizen of Germany from WWII days and he had nothing bad to say about the USA, primarily due to the Berlin Airlift. You have someone that knows the History and the sights. If I returned again that is what I would do. On your own, you will miss a lot.Response by MCPO Roger Collins made Oct 5 at 2016 11:02 AM2016-10-05T11:02:11-04:002016-10-05T11:02:11-04:002016-10-04T08:53:10-04:00
