This hero was a dedicated soldier and knew what it means to watch his brothers backs. No telling how many lives he saved doing what he was trained to do. I hope he receives his MOH soon. Pray for his family.

Commando Killed in ISIS Raid Served 14 Tours in Iraq, Afghanistan.

Master Sergeant Joshua Wheeler of Roland, Oklahoma, a highly-decorated soldier and father of four, rushed into action when he heard sounds of gunfire coming from a prison in Iraq where dozens of ISIS-held hostage were being held on Thursday.

Those actions, Defense Secretary Ash Carter told reporters on Friday, weren't part of the original rescue mission plan, but were critical to its success.

"I am immensely proud of this young man," Carter said adding that his thoughts and prayers go out to Wheeler's family.

He is a true Hero. It is unfortunate he was killed but no doubt he saved many lives. He was truly one of the good ones and we owe him a debt of gratitude. RIP MSgt...

No question about it, here was a Warrior of note. I read his list of awards and citations and I'm astonished. We are all diminished by his loss, yet enriched by his example. My Respects to the Warrior, my condolences to the family and friends........
