Israel jails Jewish extremist for 6 months without charges, trial following attacks

Israel has jailed a Jewish extremist for six months without charges or trial, expanding a crackdown against militant Jews and deploying a contentious measure typically used for Palestinians suspected of staging attacks.

This was the first time the measure, known as administrative detention, was applied against an Israeli since the crackdown began following a pair of deadly attacks last week.

Defense Minister Moshe Yaalon signed an order late Tuesday that jails extremist Mordechai Meyer, from the West Bank settlement of Maaleh Adumim, for six months.

A statement from Yaalon's office said Meyer, who Israeli media reported to be 18 years old, was being held in connection to "his involvement in violent activities and recent terror attacks."

EDITORIAL COMMENT:- "But we were told that those powers would only be used against __[fill in the blank]__ and would never be used against __[fill in the blank]__ when we voted for them." - - - "Shut up and get in the cell."

This isn't the first time extremist Jews have been in the news in Israel. Its was an extremist Israeli Jew that assassinated Yichak Rabin. Israel does not tolerate terrorism or violence whether it come from Palestinians or Israelis, Jews, Christians or Muslims. However, Israel welcomes peace-loving people from all faiths. Extremism in any religion is dangerous and violates the teachings of their religion.
