Have you heard about the Navy veteran recalling his work on Eisenhower's 1952 campaign?

Bud Lewis' contribution to American political history was played out on and around the driver's seat of a two-ton truck.

But what a view he had: of Dwight Eisenhower and Richard Nixon during the 1952 president campaign.

Lewis was one of Eisenhower's advance men, specifically a member of a vital, energetic group known as YIFE (Young Industry for Eisenhower).

Lewis, 89, opened his page of history on the kitchen table of the modest Bloomington home he shares with his wife of 66 years, Virginia.

There's the Oct. 6, 1952, issue of Life magazine that included the article, "The Advance Men," which focused on the work of YIFE.

There are photographs from the campaign, including pictures of Lewis and other members of the Eisenhower advance team with the truck that Lewis drove. There are letters, sticks and a lot of "I Like Ike" buttons.
