Here's another hero story. I love these hero stories. There's so much bad news, this news brings us back to the reality of war.

SGT.1st Class Brendan O’Connor crawled through a 14-inch ditch under heavy fire to save his injured men.

During a battle in Afghanistan that would last more than 17 hours, Sgt. 1st Class Brendan O’Connor crawled through a ditch to reach two wounded men, as machine gun fire from Taliban fighters cut the grass all around him. Taking control after the team leader was killed, O’Connor coordinated the safe extraction of his team by the use of infrared light beams from friendly aircraft and night-vision goggles.

SGT Private RallyPoint Member If you have time, and have not read it already, pick up LtCol North's book Special Operations. It is full of short stories 3-4 pages, and then the actual citations for valor that were written up. Fantastic set of tales about men just like SFC O'Connor. Covers Delta, Seals, Rangers, SWIC Boats, DEA, PJs, TACP, the list goes on. Very interesting read, and every two or three pages you simply say "Holy Shit, WOW". It never gets old, hearing how fantastic this Brotherhood is.

SGT Private RallyPoint Member I just saw this Keith. Brendan is a personal friend of mine and a real nice guy. I think he was even recommended for the Medal of Honor. The image is of Brendan and I presenting some artifacts of a WWI Distinguished Service Cross recipient to the same unit of the WWI soldier. The DSC in the pic is one of Brendan's copies that he included with the artifacts.
