When I was studying and writing German on a regular basis, I had a German QWERTZ keyboard that I would swap out with my QWERTY keyboard. This allowed me to type the required special characters without going to the character map.

I feel like I had, but it wasn't for long and I dont know what it was called, I just remember the keyboard being smaller and in a different order.

The digital dispatch units we had in our trucks at FedEx had a straight ordered alpha keyboard with numbers along the top...

Thai keyboard, but I studied keyboard methodology and if an OPTMI keyboard were more available, I would consider it.

Ive experimented with Dorvak... That was fun poping all the keys off my macbook keyboard...

Interesting that QWERTY was original designed to reduce the jamming that occurred from an alphabetically aligned one.

I have used both German and Norwegian keyboards which have somewhat different key sets, although still closely aligned. German was a real pain as the Y and Z are switched.

I've debated using DVORAK but my typing speed is so high with QWERTY that I just can't bring myself to spend the time learning the new layout, whether it's more efficient or not. I also don't want to take the chance of forgetting QWERTY in the event that I have to use a different computer and end up hunting and pecking.
