Have you ever participated in a Hash Run? What was your first experience like?

First experience was that I drank and wore a lot of beer. Ran about 5 miles, sang a bunch of silly songs that would prevent me from running for office today.

My Mother Kennel is Sembach Hash House Harriers. I then Hashed with Omaha H3 for many years. Now I Hash with Pocatello H3. I have also paid visit to a few other kennels like San Antonio H3 and San Francisco H3.

Got introduced while on embassy duty in East Africa. Great fun. Tried to start an H3 in Northern Michigan. Different variant here - Summer fishing and drinking - Winter - chili and drinking.

I first heard about this in Okinawa, Japan in 1974. I started running from Camp Haugue to Gushikawa, then to K-2, Kadena, Air Force Base. I was introduced to the Hash Hounds at Kadena. I was running from Camp Haugue to Ishikawa and back. When I returned to Okinawa, Japan, I was with the 3rd MarDiv, HqBn, Comm Co for two years. And I started running again, but this time from Camp Courtney to K-2 and back. Then the same route to Ishikawa. My family and I lived in Gushikawa and I either ran to Camp Courtney or rode my bike. I was transferred to Camp Schwab for one year. Naturally I ran all over the Northern area. Boy do I miss those days. Lucky if I can do 3 miles nowadays.

Yes. I've run with both American and foreign Hash Houses; Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand. To be honest, in my experience the American Hashes put a lot more emphasis on drinking, some Hashers arriving inebriated, some not even running at all, just being loud and drunk, even before the start. Foreign Hashes definitely party. But it's after you run, and the hazing seems a bit more jovial. I've been to some American Hashes where there was a lot of hazing of new guys by people who didn't run, just sat around the finish and got wasted. Some guys from the House I used to run with even broke off and formed an adjunct Hash, insisting you couldn't party unless you ran, or at least attempted the trail. I still try to get to one when I can. But there's places I just won't.
