I had so many troubles with the Android OS especially with updates and at the end of the life cycle of my phones I will not go back. If that is the case, then yes, I would recommend doing that. If you aren't a tech guy, I would have someone who is otherwise you might "brick" (render your phone useless, a paperweight) your phone.
