Sgt Kelli Mays 998788 <div class="images-v2-count-0"></div><br />In 1992 My mom and I were on a Northwestern Airline...don&#39;t remember the size...it was a double decker....<br /><br />We changed planes in San Fransisco and were headed to Tokyo.<br /><br />Don&#39;t know how long we were in the air when the Pilot came on and said...&quot;folks, don&#39;t worry....we seemed to have gotten a little lost, but these nice Russian Migs are escorting us back to Alaska.<br /><br />Later, while stuck on the ground in Juneau for 6 hours....I found out that this plane had three navigational systems and ALL THREE OF THEM went out. <div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>My experience with Russian Aircraft is mostly with TU-95 Bear/Bomber/Maritime Reconnaissance Aircraft. Remember tracking one from take-off at Vladivostok watching it go over Shemya (Alaska) then over us in Adak and starting to wonder when in the Hell the Air Force was going to get around to chasing it out of US Air. They waited until it was Damn near to Anchorage.

<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>While somewhat intimidating, to the casual observer, it would appear as if they did you a favor by escorting you to a safe location. I would have expected more information from the Pilot as to what was going on. Remember Malaysia Airlines Flight 370. Amazing that all three nav systems went out.
