This week the House debates the Military Construction and Veterans’ Affairs Fiscal Year Appropriations Bill. This bill makes across-the-board cuts to all VA accounts and drastically underfunds:

Medical care
Major construction
Information Technology

Long story short—these cuts will reduce the VA’s discretionary budget by more than $1.5 billion below the Administration’s request. More than $2.6 billion below the Independent Budget request.

Sorry, I really don't understand the question ... done my part by doing what? Is this a call to action of some sort?

Sorry my question wasn't clear. It has now been updated. Do you still require clarification?

Maybe it's just me, but I still cannot figure out what it is you mean by "have you done your part" ... perhaps there needs to be a little more information provided.

What have I done?
Actually, I am working to educate my co-workers about the Air Force Sergeants Association (AFSA). Right now, they are running a special of $25 for five years. (Normally, it's $25 for one year.)

AFSA regularly meets with members of Congress and Air Force and government senior leaders to advocate for fair and equitable benefits that matter to today’s Total Force Airmen and their families, and to our Veterans who have served proudly in the past. Pay raises, tuition assistance, healthcare, COLA adjustments, transition programs, care for survivors, and education benefits are just a few things on AFSA’s legislative scope.

2014 MAJOR ACCOMPLISHMENTS
- Restored full COLA for majority of retirees
- Blocked most of DoD’s requested health care fee increases/changes
- Preserved Commissary funding
- Secured in-state tuition rates (effective July 1, 2015)*
- Secured VA advanced appropriations to protect disability, pension, survivor, and GI Bill programs

Do our brother and sister services have something like this program?

Where is the commitment to the veterans who have already gave of themselves? This type of bureaucracy cannot be allowed. Many of our veterans are already suffering and need more than is being provided, we were there when they needed us and now they should not turn their backs on us. Please contact your representative and make your voice heard.
