Have you been blasted?

Prop blasts, Sapper Blasts, Spur Rides...

Every unit has it's traditions and these event are one of the last traditions that haven't been abolished by the anti hazing campaign.

For all of the blasted soldiers out there, what are your thoughts on these fun filled events?

Spur Ride was pretty fun, in hindsight, lots of hazing. I personally don't think that standards should change.

I don't know if I can call it getting blasted but today I got smart with a SFC and in all of her 4.5 ft tall self and her Army combatives training, I got an arm around the neck but it was just a sample of I could have got.

I would see it as team building, if it weren't for morons like the idiot 1SG that allowed himself to be videoed hitting a NCO in the chest with a mallet like a fool. There's a BIG difference between a punch & a wooden mallet.

When I was promoted to CPL as a young Jarhead, I was bruised on both arms & legs in a gauntlet, then went to the bar & had enough to drink that I woke up in a gutter in Japan. Good times.

However, we had a few idiots that got carried away during one of these 'promotions,' and the new NCO that went on leave was fortunate enough to have his spleen removed at home.

If we were smart enough to police our own and keep these ceremonies classy and respectful while instilling toughness, then we would not be dealing with the hazing police. It's our own fault that the military has changed, and if you are upset at the change in policy, blame the stupid amongst you.
