Having said that now I suppose I will be besieged by naysayers that I am on the side of individuals like my own Senator Al Franken. Nothing could be further from the truth and it took a female friend and board member of mine to point out that most of these firings and retirements are the result of allegations. He did this to her allegedly she told me. Where is the burden of proof that it even happened, why did she take 40 yrs to come out and say something? We all know the answer to that and its a good ol' boys world out there and they tend to stick together heck because they may all have done it. I think it could have been handled more discreetly with some kind of sexual harassment review board independent of any outside pressure or coercion. Then when and if the individual is found guilty they are pressured to provide restitution to the victim. This should have never been tried in the media. Often times the media has convicted someone before the evidence is even presented. Sexual harassment is certainly not new, however, with all the strides toward equality women have made one would think that this type of thing would be understood as wrong, inappropriate, illegal. Did these men think they were entitled to do as they wished because of their power, position, money? Regardless of excuses it is simply not right. Do these people not consider themselves 'gentlemen', how about the ones that are/were married? We were all taught better than that, or should have been. Now it is up to us to act like the men we claim to be. Everyone makes mistakes, even pushing sex, or desire to have sex once or twice can be considered a mistake. Repeating theses actions over an extended period of time with several occurrences, with several different ladies is not a mistake it is a pattern! Being a real man includes the ability to control emotions, actions and your attitude and consideration of women as human beings and their right to be treated with respect, as we should treat all people (well most people).
Sexual harassment is simply wrong. It seems though now if someone did a nice job with their hair or anything else I don't even mention it for fear they will say it makes them uncomfortable and I end up with a problem for nothing. You become afraid to even compliment anyone so You don't. I'm not talking about sexually suggestive statements either. Look at someone and they put something on it that isn't there, It made Me uncomfortable they way He looked at Me as an example. Extremism had made it uncomfortable for everyone. Of Course You can only say what someone else has approved for You to say. Your very statement or another person's perception of them even absent any type of move or suggestion of it can still get You in trouble and You may not even know why. Bit by bit it seems so try to restrict Your freedom of speech unless it agrees with their view. My definition of Political correctness if only being able to say what someone else has approved. If I had to turn in every guy that might have gotten out of hand that I met in and out of the military, there would be a jail full. People are taking things way too serious. There was one lady I saw on TV that said he kept asking her on a date and wouldn't take no for an answer, to me that is not sexual harassment, that is a guy who would really like to take you out on a date!!! If a gentleman did something 40 years ago that you found offensive and there have been no other complaints since then. Maybe there was no harassment. And the thing that drives me crazy is that they take the accusers word on everything. Is anyone doing any checking on the accusers to make sure there is not some vendetta that they have? Should the accusers have to face some backlash for making a statement that is not true? YES! SPC Diana D. Criminal behavior involving mature women or underage children - particularly where the objective is an expression of power over women and children - is anathema to our cultural, religious, moral, ethical, and legal standards. These behaviors often cause women and children to question their own rights to privacy and the integrity of their person and feelings from deeply invasive assault. Mere political correctness has little or nothing to do with expression of power over women's privacy and integrity of their bodies - rather it tends to touch on substantially lesser qualities of kindness, politeness, and respect. One conceivably forgives those repentant of political correctness - but not those who commit assaults. Warmest Regards, Sandy :)

p.s. The problem today increasingly focuses on senior individuals in positions of trust and authority who have numerous allegations against them by multiple independent witnesses (sources). 1LT Private RallyPoint Member Fri, 08 Dec 2017 19:50:57 -0500 2017-12-08T19:50:57-05:00 Response by MSgt Private RallyPoint Member made Dec 8 at 2017 8:17 PM https://www.rallypoint.com/answers/have-things-gotten-out-of-hand-with-reactions-to-allegations-of-sexual-harassment-and-political-correctness?n=3156664&urlhash=3156664

http://www.pewresearch.org/fact-tank/2017/12/07/americans-views-of-sexual-harassment-allegations/

americans-views-of-sexual-harassment-allegations

MSgt Private RallyPoint Member Fri, 08 Dec 2017 20:17:05 -0500 2017-12-08T20:17:05-05:00 Response by SPC Private RallyPoint Member made Dec 9 at 2017 11:28 AM https://www.rallypoint.com/answers/have-things-gotten-out-of-hand-with-reactions-to-allegations-of-sexual-harassment-and-political-correctness?n=3157994&urlhash=3157994

So a story for you all to comment on our think about. I went to Basic at Fort Benning prior to them allowing Females there. There was only 1 Female Drill Sergeant and she wasn't in my Platoon, and part way through she left for training but did return for Graduation. There being no Females meant that we could use the wood line, it meant that guys talked about girls and as you can imagine by week 5 guys really missed their girls. You can imagine there are jokes and stories, because it's basic and the only thing you can do is talk to each other as there's nothing else but training.

We get to AIT and we see Females for the first time in 73 days. I kid you not, guys actually had their mouths open and they didn't know how to react to Females. It was funny as hell. The Males would not talk to the Females for a bit, at least those of us from Benning. Only if it was for needs of the task at hand. We had been told about SHARP and quite frankly it scared the hell out of people. A false accusation or a misinterpreted discussion or gesture could be a career burner. As it turns out, the Females were dirtier than we were. Their innuendo was on par or worse that what I heard at Benning. I thought that was hilarious. We established camaraderie, similar to what we had in Basic. Here is the long answer. While sexual harassment is 1000% unacceptable, I think that many of the allegations need to be looked into further. I like to think of myself as a rational person so when things look out of place, I question it. Do I think some of the allegations are true? Yes. However, some of them have suspicious timing, and some other factors that call into question their validity.

Since I live in Alabama I hear a great deal about the Senate race and the allegations against Moore. While, I personally can't stand the guy, I think that the timing of the allegations combined with some inconsistencies in the alleged victim's statements call into question the credibility. Why now? Why not when he was running for the Chief Justice position? So based on the what I have seen I do not have sufficient reason to suspect that he attempted to rape a 14 year old. I could be wrong, but at this point, there isn't sufficient evidence to support it. The question of him dating 17 year olds while in his 30's seems more plausible. His statements have been that he did not date underage girls, which would be true since the age of consent in Alabama is 16. It might be creepy as hell, but not illegal.

My point is, this all looks like a political stunt to discredit him. The issue with that is, people will stop believing that people are sexually harassed if it continues to be used as a political tool to discredit an opponent. Think back to the story of the little boy who cried wolf. So if this continues, then no one will believe it when it really happens. SGT David T.
