Every other PCS we drove and took the cat in the car with us, or he rode in the travel trailer.

Contact an airline and ask about shipping a pet. If they are small, they may ride in a soft carrier under your seat. If they are larger, they must go in the hold.

You could also look into the major freight carriers on the internet and see what they can do. There are numerous carriers including American Airlines. Most need rabies verification, chipping, and a recent vet exam. Not a fun trip for the dog. The airline baggage handlers made sure she had water during the layovers in Seattle and Dallas. We put a dog bed in her crate to make it more comfortable. She became so stressed that she shredded the bed. Outside of that she came through okay.

We did ask our vet about giving her a tranquilizer to make the trip easier. She advised that we should not. She believed the dog needed to be fully aware of her environment to cope with the situation.
