Have any DoD Civilians lived in Germany with an unmarried partner? https://www.rallypoint.com/answers/have-any-dod-civilians-lived-in-germany-with-an-unmarried-partner

My significant other is moving to Germany with me in April. Since we are not married, I know she has to move under normal civilian residency requirements, but could use any advice.

Clarification: I will be assigned there as a DoD civilian, finding a place now.
She will be there as a civilian, not under the SOFA.
I am looking for others who have done something similar, and may have insights into residency, work permits, etc. Tue, 02 Feb 2016 09:27:18 -0500 Have any DoD Civilians lived in Germany with an unmarried partner? https://www.rallypoint.com/answers/have-any-dod-civilians-lived-in-germany-with-an-unmarried-partner

My significant other is moving to Germany with me in April. Her employer does not care where or with whom she lives.
If you are in Government controlled housing then there are restrictions on how long you can have guest(s). However, if you are in a private rental then the military has no say in who lives with you as long as you are abiding by your rental agreement. They will sponsor her. Also community bank can sponsor as well. I had a friend that got divorced while there and community bank became her sponsor. I'm not sure of the rules for any of this but thought I would share.
