PO3 Phyllis Maynard 4104168

At one point in my 20ish/30ish life I wanted to be a criminal attorney then a federal judge to fight organized crime. But individuals already in that venue admitted to things that tore at the core of what I believed to be justice for all without fear. My ongoing civil legal issue illuminates the dark reality of what justice for all really is. The legal system is proving to me to be a closed shop that impedes the constitutional protected rights of individuals, if they are not versed and willing to stand up and demand that the Judiciary act as an agent of the individual citizen to access justice. Veteran Leadership, Active Duty Leadership, and Civilian Leadership need to become educated and versed in this area, in order, to advocate strongly for our community. The VA Hospitals have Veteran Justice Outreach Coordinators who advocate for court involved veterans. But, the representation is so undermanned and overworked. Coming out in numbers makes a difference. United We Stand, we can bring ethics back into law.
Has there been an area of career endeavour that one has considered as a vocation but declined due to ethical concerns? 2018-11-06T03:29:18-05:00 PO3 Phyllis Maynard 4104168

At one point in my 20ish/30ish life I wanted to be a criminal attorney then a federal judge to fight organized crime. To be honest I never had that difficulty. One thing I contribute to here in Chicago is the Chicago Community Bond Fund. I think many would be surprised in the variance in adjudication solely based on the simple fact that the individual was able to post bail. However the public as a whole not knowing this is the very dichotomy of the problem.

Regardless of the woes within our legal system, I personally have not had to contemplate such a choice. As such that makes me curious about my own ethical grounding - maybe my bar is set to low?

Great question for self reflection.
