Has the Army started using the ACFT in its schools? https://www.rallypoint.com/answers/has-the-army-started-using-the-acft-in-its-schools

I am enrolled to go to BLC this year and have heard rumors that the Army has started using the new PT test in all school(BCT, AIT, NCOES, etc). While it would really hurt me either way, I am interested to know if this is what to expect. So is this true or one of those many false rumors you hear? Thanks! They had never taken an APFT, only the ACFT until they arrived at DLI. However at AIT's and other schools it seems they are using the APFT for records and just holding ACFT's for diagnostics. I was told by my command that they were required to give us two ACFT diagnostics before this October. They’re making everyone that comes through here take it, but it’s more of an introduction. It’s not record.

All prior service here reclassing in the Aviation Brigade are also getting trained and certified as graders and to set up the field.

I don’t know that anyone is taking it for record yet. They keep changing standards every other week. It’s not supposed to become the standard until FY21.

I don’t know where your MOS falls on the grading scale, but it’s pretty easy. I’m old, broken, and didn’t put forth too much effort when I took it and I passed. Lee right now. All the schools from AIT to CCC have it in the curriculum. My understanding is passing the record APFT is the requirement for officers, however, if you do not pass the ACFT it is annotated in the 1059. It will not keep you from graduating, but it is noted. Not sure what that means after that. A lot of the AAR was focused on taking the ACFT, and leaving the course being able to instruct. Most of our PT was based from the Tactical Athlete Program. We did incorporate some exercises from the test. It takes a lot to just change curriculum. It’s coming though! It was not required to pass the course. Now the last FRAGO that came out on the ACFT was that each school house commander could decide the graduation requirements for the school house. They could also provide alternative events if a student could not pass a certain event (leg tuck was mentioned btw).

I am old and I will admit I’m not in the shape I would like to be. I did great at all the ACFT events except for the leg tuck. I couldn’t get the required amount. I can now after just a few weeks of more upper body strength training.

The whole plan is units begin performing ACFT for diagnostic purposes so when October 1st rolls around it’s not a shock what the ACFT takes physical fitness wise and no one is failing due to lack of familiarity. Expect it to happen Army-wide. It's actually easier to pass than the APFT, much harder to max. Most of the ACFT fails we've had are unable to do the leg tucks. Like anything else, you need to train on it consistently to get good at it. Stop worrying about it and embrace it. 1LT Private RallyPoint Member Wed, 29 Jan 2020 18:48:40 -0500 2020-01-29T18:48:40-05:00 Response by SSG Private RallyPoint Member made Feb 3 at 2020 12:05 PM https://www.rallypoint.com/answers/has-the-army-started-using-the-acft-in-its-schools?n=5514556&urlhash=5514556

I had two Soldiers attend Camp Parks BLC in December and two attend Fort McCoy BLC in January.
