However, there are some strict timelines with the application process. If you haven't engaged with a Career Skills Program (CSP) counselor, you need to do that now to make sure you don't miss application windows. If there isn't a CSP counselor on your installation, contact the regional counselor*.

The Microsoft Software and Systems Academy (MSSA) has three different tracks - Cybersecurity Operations (CSO), Server and Cloud Administration (SCA) and Cloud Application Development (CAD).

CSO is for an experienced IT individual and requires a combined 2+ years of experience in Networking, Server Operating Systems and especially Cybersecurity (emphasis on InfoSec, Security Operations, SOC, CSOC, Analyst). Both SCA and CAD are designed for someone that has no prior experience.

All three require you to complete learning paths associated with the program and the include the certification with your application (it doesn't have to be done at the time of application, but must be completed by the materials cutoff deadline). The FAQ page* for the program should answer most of your questions about the different paths, process, timelines, etc.

BTW - one thing they might not tell you is that you have to have a LinkedIn Premium account to take the learning paths. However, LinkedIn gives a free 1-year premium subscription to service members and veterans.

Good luck!
-------------------------------------------------
* CSP Overview and contact info - https://home.army.mil/imcom/index.php/customers/career-skills-program/soldier
* MSSA FAQ - https://military.microsoft.com/mssa/faqs/
* LinkedIn Premium for military - https://socialimpact.linkedin.com/programs/veterans/premiumform

Soldiers :: U.S. Army Installation Management Command

The Career Skills Program (CSP) is a component of the Transition Soldier Life Cycle model encouraging Soldiers to capitalize on training and development opportunities throughout their military careers so that they grow and develop as Soldiers fully capable of serving our Nation—both in uniform and as civilians beyond their military service.
