Has anyone used the Google Voice app for a hidden telephone number?

A need to remain anonymous led me to the Google Voice app on my iPhone. It worked! I was able to lodge a complaint w/o taking responsibility. W/in one hour a government agency contacted me for details. They reported having investigated my concern w/in two and a half hours.

Well, not for a hidden telephone number, but I have a Google Voice number that I use as my "spam" number, just like a I have an email I use as my "SPAM email".

If I need to provide a mobile phone number in order to get a SMS verification and it's for something like getting a car quote, I'll use the Google Voice number.
