Has anyone switched branches after being out for an extended period of time, 5+ years? https://www.rallypoint.com/answers/has-anyone-switched-branches-after-being-out-for-an-extended-period-of-time-5-years <div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>I was in the Marine Corps and got out almost 10 years ago. I&#39;ve been thinking of coming back in for the past few years. Due to my career path and educational goals, I feel like the Army would be the best fit. I&#39;d rather come back into the Marine Corps but the recruiter I&#39;ve spoken with has been in very little contact and didn&#39;t seem very hopeful about me being able to rejoin but the Army was completely opposite. How was the transition, not just to a different branch but also coming back in with such a huge break in service? If you got out as an NCO, and switched your MOS was it difficult being in a leader position learning a new job? Any information would be appreciated. We had one guy who had been out over 20 years, but several who were anywhere from 5-12. Most people seemed to get into the groove fairly well. SFC Marc W.
