I am normally a Sig Sauer guy, but I have a Taurus 1911 that has been a great gun. My Sigs can be a bit particular about the ammo they take. The Taurus gobbles up anything, steel case, aluminum or brass from any manufacturer or any reloads I have thrown at it. I have shot somewhere around three thousand rounds out of it and never had a jam or a stove pipe or failure to fire. No where near the most expense or prettiest, but if it failed tomorrow I’d buy another. Taurus makes some decent stuff but you can get better for about the same money.
Just my 2 cents. TSgt David L. Taurus was the licensed manufacturer for Beretta in Brazil and still makes a clone of the 92/M9 that IMO corrected the shortcomings of the 92, including a frame mounted safety that works in the right direction. I have PT101 in 9MM (92 Clone with adjustable sights) and the follow on to the PT24/7, the OSS 24/7 in 45 ACP. Both are fine pistols, although the OSS requires a break in period not uncommon in modern handguns. The 101 was never ammo sensitive and after about 300 rounds, the 24/7 eats any junk I load in it. I have not got to shoot the current G3 series pistols yet.

One the revolver side, most models are S&W clones, with the exception of the tracker series. Quality isn't Smith & Wesson, but still decent. They make a number of six plus revolvers, including an interesting 38/357 that has a replacement 9mm cylinder.
