Has anyone here shot 40-40 on rifle? I just did it on monday

Earned my first Hawkeye and it was only my second time ever qualifying. Got a new expert badge because of it, in basic I shot 24 for marksman, and I'm only a mechanic lol.

Just remember you are a soldier first and despite one's MOS they should always strive to be the best in their Warrior Tasks and Drills. Keep up the good work!

Don't worry about what you shot in basic. Those were pop-up targets and pop-ups are a little harder than qualifying on paper targets. Now that you know you can do 40-40, don't settle for anything less! =)

Congratulations PV2 Baker. That's good shit. Just remember now that you set that bar, you need strive to get that all the time. I know going to the range is a little more difficult for support units that the combat ones, most of the time. But that doesn't mean you should let those skills fall to the wayside. Keep up the good work.

I have, actually, several times. I also somehow have managed perfect scores with pistol (back in the old days with the .45), and the M-60. Age and lack of range time would make it extremely difficult for me to do now.

Good Job, best I ever got on pop-ups was 39-40, something would always happen and id miss 1. As for being a mechanic man if you ever get assigned to the Cav you are going to be on the range a lot they don't care, cause when your down range the bullets don't bother asking what your MOS is. I never shot less than 37 out of 40 even when I took 3 rounds out of load on my last range I still hit 37 out of 37. Congrats on a job well done!

The best I've ever done to date was 37 out of 40. It's still expert but until I shoot a perfect 40 I still consider myself a sharpshooter.

Great work out there on the range. I've never shot 40/40 but I always shoot sharpshooter or expert depending on the day. And always think of yourself as a warfighter first before your MOS comes into play that's just for PC reasons and the qualities needed to make this engine called the U.S. armed forces move. Again great job and how do you tag ppl in your responses...? Help anyone.

You might want to look into reclassifying as a scout, infantry, or MP and look at getting into a sniper slot. If nothing else a spotter.

Some of the Pre-requisites required by most Sniper Section leaders are as follows.

1. 270+ APFT
2. Expert M-4 score
3. No adverse actions
4. GT 110, waiver for school to 100

Either way good shooting.

To answer your question, yes.

I regularly shot 40 out of 40. I even shot 48 out of 40 once, lesson to the range detail is, just becusae I was JAG doesn't mean can't shoot. AND I will shoot every round you give me.

I did back in 82 Fort Benning when I was at AIT it was a great day
