Generally though, unless they are grandfathered caches, there arent many on US bases since they have to be in public areas (by geocaching rules).Response by LTC Private RallyPoint Member made Oct 12 at 2015 9:04 PM2015-10-12T21:04:39-04:002015-10-12T21:04:39-04:00CPT Private RallyPoint Member1073609

I found several caches on Fort Rucker, and there have been additional caches added there since I left (in spite of the geocaching.com rules). I think they are allowed on Rucker because of the ease of getting on Post for civilians. When I was at USAG Humphreys I was very frustrated that reviewers wouldn't approve any caches within 1/4 mile or so of Post unless there was a "major road" between the cache and post. Not seeing snow this winter.
2. Saltwater fishing.
3. Caching on base. I'd already downloaded the coords for the 10 caches on base there.
Such is life. I'm still happy to say I've cached 25 states and DC, 4 Canadian provinces, Spain, Portugal, and Gibraltar. Many of these I was only able to accomplish while in a duty status.Response by PO1 Private RallyPoint Member made Dec 2 at 2015 4:15 PM2015-12-02T16:15:23-05:002015-12-02T16:15:23-05:00TSgt Private RallyPoint Member1277760

Per GC reqs, caches are not supposed to placed in areas that are not open to the public. For most AF installations, they are prohibited. So I placed one outside the gate of Lackland AFB, with permission, which is checked on daily by the security forces OIC, who happens to also be a cacher. Now overseas, i.e. combat locations, Camp Victory was a cornucopia of caches, but I only trekked along, never found them. Which I would have started sooner.Response by TSgt Private RallyPoint Member made Feb 3 at 2016 1:11 PM2016-02-03T13:11:47-05:002016-02-03T13:11:47-05:00MAJ Private RallyPoint Member1280641

CDR Laurel Meadows - Geocaches are only allowed on military installations by very limit exception, where most people couldn't access them otherwise (Iraq, Afghanistan, Kuwait, etc...).
