Has anyone else noticed a few of the members of RP aren't posting here anymore?

I've noticed since RP went to the new format, that a few of the members that were prevalent in the old one aren't posting or responding anymore. Has anyone else noticed this, and is this a changing of the "guard"?

Sure have. And I. like you, SSG Warren Swan have wondered why on many occasions. I, myself, do not spend nearly as much time on RP as I initially did. I know why that has changed for me. For fear of getting blacklisted by the omnipotent founding fathers of this sacred site or the untold blood-thirsty Admins on here, I will not venture into that arena. But you know what I mean. And that is where I shall leave it.

I have seen this happen a few times. It's sad to notice someone is gone and you can't look for their insight. Life gets busy and I wonder if some get burnt out. I did a couple of times. But luckily there are new members ready to take up the mantel. I'll be here I'm sure.

SSG Warren Swan, I don't comment as much as I did previously. I find many of the questions have been asked numerous times in the past and to continue to answer the same old questions seems a waste of time.
I've also become weary of political/religious battles. The same people take the same stance (generally) and another battle royal takes place, with little or nothing accomplished.
I've also found that I've been out of the service for so long (retired MAY98), that many times I can't provide a comment that is relevant to the Army of today. However, that is simply my sack of bricks to carry.
I still like to look at all the discussion threads, though, and hand out "thumbs up" for well thought responses. CPT Private RallyPoint Member

It's kind of normal for online communities to have an ebb and flow. I don't know how much of it is to do with the redesign and how much is just that heavy involvement in an online community just isn't feasible over a long period of time for healthy people. You either step back or burn out.

That said, there are a few I really miss interacting with that seem to have checked out. I always hope that's a positive thing.

Yes SSG Warren Swan I have noticed a reduction in posts from many of my friends and contacts. Several of my friends quit over the past 6 months and many others have been largely silent. I know that some of them are deployed and that is the primary reason they are not as active such as @LTC John G LTC John Shaw. Others have been and are sick or injured and are recovering such as LTC Bink Romanick.

SSG Warren Swan - I was pretty active in 2014 and early 2015, but then dropped off quite a bit until two weeks ago when I logged in for the first time in over six months. Since I've returned, I barely recognize anyone that was really active when I left. I was glad to see that CPT Private RallyPoint Member & SMSgt Minister Gerald A. Thomas look to be just as active as ever.

I've been here for many years. I seldom posted at all before. Now that I'm retired, I seem to comment much more and post once in a while. I do see the same 2-3 people who post very often.

Possibly. Its more likely that they got ticked off at some of the responses to questions. I have seen responses on here that are more fitted to U.S. Army WTF Moments than a professional forum. I have a friend who no longer posts here because of some of the idiocy that some people were posting.

I don't know if it's necessarily a changing of the guard per se. If any of them are like me then it could just be because the new format is taking some getting used to. Not as easy to find certain topics that I used to frequent anymore.

SSG Warren Swan I know I don't post like I used to for several reasons. The biggest for me is that it is not as social as it used to be. People don't engage like they used to. For the most part people were friends. That has seemed to go the way of the dodo bird. The other is I can't find things that interest me any more. The new format has made it harder to to read about the post and to see what others have to say. So unless the title stands out and I decide to click I just pass it up. For me I just don't get engaged like I used to.

I sometimes go a few days without posting. I just came off a 4 day RP sabbatical in fact. I would often check RP while I was at work. My job was more reactionary than proactive, and there wasn't a whole lot that went wrong, so a lot of down time. But I just started a new job today that will keep me busy throughout the workday, so I'll have to keep my RP'ing limited to home. So I'll probably be on daily for the most part from now on.

When did the old one change? I post when I feel like it. If I think I have something I want an opinion on. But for the most part I just read other questions/posts and sometimes comment on them.
