Has anyone caught a news media story about how our comrades who are still deployed in the Middle East are doing?

You want local news, go to those sources. You can't call what we have news much anymore. Al Jazeera, Al Harretz, Memri, Israel Times, Jerusalem Post are just a few.

Well, they are still over there, in a place where they shouldn’t be, doing things for a region of people that does not value their presence. Sometimes, they die for those same people, all to prove that being over there has not solved, is not solving, and will never, in the long term, solve much of anything for those people whose value system is simply uncivilized, and will never be anything more.

My son is deployed in the Middle East and has been since last October 2017. We hope to have him home in early November of this year. Well, to his home and to his lovely wife who misses him dearly. I am able to text him often, and Skype him sometimes too. We encourage him to use most of his limited free time to talk to his bride, and if time doesn’t allow she can fill us in and keep us updated. We have a very close family an this second deployment is not much fun but we are also a strong family and will endure.

To answer your question, he seems well or as well as can be expected. He has a lot of family support and couldn’t be more loved or missed. Honestly other then being deployed, the time difference really stinks. My wife and I have a medical practice and work long hours and he does as well. All our patients understand that if and when he calls, we are taking the call and they have been very understanding. He has a brother also serving who is stationed in Germany so the time difference for them is only an hour or two. He also keeps us up to day on the goings on in the sand box.

I hope everyone takes this as a reminder that we still do have a lot of deployed brothers and sisters and sons and daughters far away from home and their loved ones. And as long as we do they need our appreciation, love and support. I promise you our son has all three.

I believe that we are involved in Syria on clandestine missions. The Taliban and ISIS are experiencing a falling out. Very few opponents want to take us on in conventional warfare, instead relying on asymmetrical warfare.

We are doing okay...It is not terrible, just a little more issues here and there compared to other deploys. All and all its same stuff different day.
