When I was active duty I did some sick training at Fort Lewis and was all over the place during every free minute. Repeat of that? Yes, please! Lewis so if you know the area from Ft Lewis then you know camp Murray . Good post but small with some older buildings. Politics like every place but I enjoyed my time there. It's south of Tacoma, schools on the slightly above average side, I-5 commute is a bear. I don't call that area the "real" Washington primarily due to the Tacoma industrial side and traffic. I loved west Puget Sound up to about 7 years ago when that area got ever more packed with people. So I left two years ago for much more rural.<br /><br />Weekends/Evenings: You'll have to drive to whatever you want to do. You'll have to drive to get food, you name it. So POV is a must. Takes about an hour and a half to get up to the Seahawks game, but you're better off parking and taking the train. They do get "B Circuit" acts in a the Tacoma Dome so it isn't like you're in the netherworld, but it doesn't draw like LA, Chicago, etc.Response by CAPT Kevin B. made Nov 23 at 2016 4:23 PM2016-11-23T16:23:40-05:002016-11-23T16:23:40-05:00SPC Dawn Appelberg (Johnson)2124232<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>Spent 10 years there at USPFO...what you want to know?Response by SPC Dawn Appelberg (Johnson) made Dec 1 at 2016 1:23 PM2016-12-01T13:23:53-05:002016-12-01T13:23:53-05:00SSG Private RallyPoint Member2135319<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>Great place, quite and American Lake is at the door step. There is a 3.4 MILES perimeter course that you can run and scenes of American Lake, woods, and a stretch of I-5 (noisy and busy). I am with the USPFO and work as the PBO in BLDG 32.
