Has anyone been able to use their Post 9/11 GI Bill for online classes and EMT training and did it affect the MAH?

You dont want to use your GI Bill for EMT. Paramedic yes but not EMT. Now if you are going for an associates or bachelors in EMS that is a different story as you will be taking a full class load.

To expand on what MAJ Byron Oyler said DO NOT use your GI Bill for EMT training. The class is a few hundred dollars, but with the way GI Bill is calculated you are losing a whole lot more money than the $500+ your EMT-B will cost

If you're taking your classes online there is a separate BAH rate for that. I suggest you go through the VA GI Bill site, it's all laid out fairly clear on there as long as you're asking about a degree program. Certification programs get a bit more complicated

I used part of my GI Bill to put myself though EMT and Paramedic courses. I didn't want to obligate myself to undesired student loans unless I just had to. One recommendation though.... If you are looking at obtaining your EMT and/or Paramedic certifications for civilian employment, make the commitment to obtain your Associates degree while you are working for the license. I didn't at the time and regret it 100% now.

Post 9/11 pays out a monthly stipend according to BAH rates and according to the locaion of the school, but strictly online courses pay out at the national average i think $900.

To have the local amount, you need to attend at least one 'in-person' class. I do know that with covid happening, as long as the course was listed as in person, it wont be affected if its being ran on zoom

Have you applied for other benefits such as fafsa? I dont know about all schools, but if you qualify itll help with tuition and costs
