Has anybody ever reenlisted with a RE4?

Just curious if anybody’s ever done it I’m being told with certain circumstances it can be done it’s a waiver and this is coming from a recruiter I’m aware of what an RE4 is... just looking for simple answers? Can it be done?

Short answer: no.
Longer answer: I've never heard of anyone successfully getting a waiver.
Best answer: You'll get a lot of good responses here, but NONE will be as good as marching down to your local recruiter who will tell you what's what. Which, I'm afraid, is going to be no.

No you can not reenlist with a RE4 entry code I know first hand I tried may times and now I have just don't like but you know what I was plan on making the Army a career but I fell your short I had 16.5 years in I wanted to retire but No I couldn't spent all years and got nothing for it.

Simple answer is NO. RE code 4 is a permanent disqualification, there are no waivers for RE CODE 4.

My research found that if the Sole reason for RE4 code was for homosexual conduct, then reenlistment is possible. The DD214 must reflect this in narrative form, and the following codes must be in block 26:

GRA, GRB, GRC, HRA, HRB, or HRC.

Service must have been characterized as Honorable.

You can re-enlist with an RE 4 when the 5th Mongolian Horde (Mechanized) is marching down the Pacific Coast Highway.

Hate to tell y'all that your wrong. I received an oth for misconduct re-4 out of the Navy..... Don't get this wrong it wasn't easy by any means however I got a waiver for it thru the national guard. Once completed wtc and ait I asked dropped a 368 paper (request to go to active duty) and the rest is history. Point is you will be told no a million times, if you want it that bad you will eventually meet a recruiter that will see your dedication and make the attempt.

I'll say it again it was very difficult but I did it. My advice is to stay positive and focused. Note I did this while we were engaged in active conflict in the Middle East.

I am a dual branch service member I recieved a RE4 from the army I'm a prior service marine all my research I found if you received a RE4 from any branch other than the army you can still serve you can write a letter to your Congressmen and it is possible to solider again

I myself got out the marine corps with an oth and re-4b back in 2010. I’ve been on a mission this past week to speak with recruiters and or lawyers regarding this. Any luck?

Yep, im not wntirely sure how but my recruiter got me in the U.S. Army National Guard in Sept 2007 after I had received an Honorable Discharge with RE-4 code from the Navy. It was a year after my DUI which I'm fairly certain was why I received an RE-4. However the Army National Guard in Missouri accepted waived me. So Yes its possible i may have been one of the few that received that code and was able to re-enlist but Im sure my recruiter filled out a waiver and I dont remember exactly which form it was. It is possible but its a case by case basis.

So from my personal previous experience one of my cousins and a old friend both got discharged with an RE-Code 4 and they tried multiple times to get it upgraded because no branch will work with you with that code on your DD 214.

Generally speaking, "no." But there are exceptions and as others point out, some cases CAN be waived.
I will say that as the head of a corporate security department, I worked hard to hire Veterans. You cannot ask for a DD Form 214 until AFTER a person is hired. Nor can you ask if they have an Honorable Discharge. You can however ask (and this is weird but most rules/laws have some sort of loophole), "Do you have anything OTHER than a DIShonorable Discharge?" Of course the answer you're looking for is, "Yes, I have an Honorable Discharge."
So, I hired one young man and upon getting his DD Form 214, I noticed it had and RE4. That proved to end up being a strong indicator of not just his performance, but his integrity. He had a minor accident with a company vehicle ... parked it CLOSE to the side of a building so the next driver wouldn't notice it. However, that driver was curious and DID notice it before he moved the vehicle and reported it. In an unrelated incident, another security officer was checking an area next to a power company's electrical substation. A worker there just happened to ask, "Are you checking on that other guy who sideswiped the barricade post?"
End of story ... end of the RE4's job. THAT's why an RE4 trying to reenlist will PROBABLY have problems unless he can get a waiver. Performance, character, integrity.

Are you wanting to go back in to the Marine Corps? All I can say is "Good Luck." If that is what you really want go for it but your chances are slim to none. The Corps isn't as forgiving as other branches.
