I am going to Hamm, Luxembourg to visit our some of heroes from World War II that paid the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty. It is the resting place of 5,076 Americans that fell during World War II.

The American Cemetery was established on 29 December 1944 as a temporary burial ground for soldiers killed in the fighting in the Ardennes. General Patton himself was buried here on Christmas Eve 1945, three days after he died in Heidelberg. His original grave was is an area now designated as Plot F and was moved to the top of the burial plots in 1947.

Among those buried here, there are 118 soldiers of the Jewish faith, whose headstones are in the shape of a Star of David, 22 pairs of brothers and one pair of close friends buried side by side at the request of their families, and one woman, an Army nurse.

I doubt I will go out to eat free food..... depending on what time I get off work on Tuesday, I will either drive to Spokane to be with the family for a few days on either Tuesday afternoon/eve or Wednesday morning.....

I am going to pull out my 65 Ford galaxie and giver her a bath and get her ready for a car show this weekend. A fellow SSG is going to come help me out and afterwards my wife is going to cook a roast and potatos. That's how I am going to spend Veterans day. We do not want to go and try to get free food. The restaurants are busy for all that expecally with 2 toddlers. Lol

I don't ask for or look for "Free" anything on this day or another,,, as I understand, nothing is really Free.
What did I do that was special today?
Same as every day, I work up, felt pain, remembered pain, breathed in and remembered, some who did not wake up this morning, all of who deserved to more than I....same as I will do tomorrow and the next day, until I tire of of it.

Not even sure I will get to eat free food. I think it is most likely that I will get up, go to work and not see much of a difference from the day before or after? Getting up and doing what needs to be done is part of the legacy of our service and why, I guess, we even have a Veteran's Day?

I'm out trading Buddy Poppies for donations and talking to people who stop to tell me about their loved ones who also served or are serving. Yesterday I met a young woman from England where Armistice Day is still important and no one would be caught dead without wearing a Buddy Poppy. It seems I'm the first she's seen since she's been here. Sad. Another told me about her grandfather who was a survivor of the Bataan Death March and I told her about my cousin who was a member of the Ranger unit that rescued him. Some had sons and daughters currently deployed and we prayed together for their safe return. To be honest, it's a lot like Christmas with only a few Scrooges hurrying past, afraid to make eye contact. Even those I wished a happy Veterans Day. We don't regret securing even their freedom, do we?
