Remember George H W Bush vying with Ronald Reagan for the nomination. Reagan won despite Bush's attacks. Then Bush went on to serve two terms as Reagan's VP (pretty well too) and then win his own bid for President. Trump is beginning to remind me of Reagan more and more, at least in the attacks directed at him. I suppose Pence could play the role of Bush

That's politics these days. One minute they are saying one thing then a better opportunity opens up and they flip the script to jump on the band wagon. I say we release all Senators and congressman that have been in office for over 5 years and start over with fresh blood. No more of these guys keeping their seats for decades. Yes I understand that its the peoples fault ultimately for re-electing them but lets be honest most voters these days are ignorant to the real issues and get easily fooled during election campaigns.

I think the so called "establishment" probably pushed Trump to choose him, as well as pushed Pence to accept it, in order to give some credibility to the ticket and give their endorsements.

Unsure. He may be doing it in order to temper Trump (self sacrifice)...Lord knows it's not for power, for what is the VP's office but a slot you hope you don't step up from at best and worst one where you become a clown like Biden?

Politicians waver in whatever direction the "is it good for me" wind is blowing. I agree with SFC J. Fullerton that the "establishment" probably pushed this, but for a different reason. Pence has been a darling of the Koch brothers who have been withholding support from the GOP so far this election year. IMO the "establishment" is hoping that having Pence on the ticket will open the Koch brothers coffers again. As the saying goes; the truth is usually somewhere down the money trail.

For me, it's assumed most politicians will say whatever that serves their purpose. We have lost the true measure of statesmanship particularly in the last few years where compromise for the good of the country was lost. In this "all or none" mindset where selfishness rules the day, the American public gets the short end of the stick, primarily because we tolerate it. So those in either party who take the extreme view by saying "my way or the highway", we're looking at you...YOU are the problem.

Yes... Governor Pence has moved in order seek political power. I like the move though... it really has infuriated the liberal left and the DNC.

I like Pence even more than Trump... it shows that Pence can backpedal and acknowledge the other choice is electing a spited, gun grabbing political wh%$#.

It shows Pence can move forward with a conservative point of view... and...quite possibly come up with a better immigration plan that will keep our nation free from attacks from within.

Great move... I'll give Trump one "attaboy" ... but one more "awshit" and the slate is wiped clean and you must start over.

Frankly, unless someone convinces me I'm wrong here, this shows a side of Trump that people say they want to see - compromise and listening to people. Read the article, Pence asks Trump if he minded, Trump says do what you think is right.
