SSG Private RallyPoint Member 3883336 <div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>I got Selected back in June and start the Q course in January. My 1sg is trying to get me to go to JRTC in September for 25 days. He said if I dont show him actual orders for the Q, i will be going to JRTC. Does an ATRRS reservation act in the same way as those orders? Im supposed to be getting PRK surgery as well in the coming weeks. What are the chances of not going to JRTC if im working for OJT (On The Job Training) and on profile because of PRK? Got Selected and work for ARSOF recruiters as part of OJT. Will ATRRS reservation work as orders to not go to JRTC? 2018-08-15T20:16:08-04:00 SSG Private RallyPoint Member 3883336 <div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>I got Selected back in June and start the Q course in January. I would hate to see that your first sergeant trying to Blue Falcon you. I hope you get a correct and proper answer. Congratulations on your selection. That is what Rally Point is for to make sure you get second opinions because I&#39;ve seen it where they will put a specialist in the sergeant slot to make sure that a sergeant doesn&#39;t get promoted. Let me see if I can get some help here.<br /> Response by LTC Private RallyPoint Member made Aug 15 at 2018 8:26 PM 2018-08-15T20:26:04-04:00 2018-08-15T20:26:04-04:00 MSG Dan Castaneda 3883373 <div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>Your best bet will be your profile. Your unit does not have to support OJT. However, violating profile can have significant consequences. An ATTRS slot does not serve the same purpose as actual orders. Technically your 1SG can make you go. I would instead talk to him and explain your time line. If you are to report to 1st SWTG(A) in January, you have to clear your unit before Christmas exodus. Add some leave for PCS, you should be out of your unit sometime in October. Of course leave can be regulated. As a 11B a JRTC rotation can be beneficial prior to going to SUT. Good luck. In other words they can pull you as they wish. Now, if you already have scheduled PRK prior to the JRTC rotation then you will be limited to an extend; after a few weeks they could (theoretically) take you to FT Polk and keep you in the rear. Seen it before!!!! So, be very diplomatic as you approach this issue. Perhaps you might be able to move your surgery sooner!!!! Also, ATTRS is not a replacement for orders. Best of luck!!!! I&#39;ve had buddies that had the PRK done, and they had to wear sunglasses for extended periods + eye drops and all that jazz. You will probably get some limited duty profile, but that doesn&#39;t prohibit them from them taking you to JTRC. You&#39;ll probably get stuck doing TOC duty, RTO, etc. It all depends on your chain of command. It is a very busy time with lots of different meds and eye drops that NEED to be followed or your eyesight could be screwed forever. Ensure your CoC truly understands what you will be going through. Some people blow off the profile, but remember, it is the way it is for a reason. The recovery is not easy and being away from home will make it more difficult. Since your eyes will be light sensitive and will require at least 6-12 weeks to heal to a point where you can aim and fire your weapon accurately. However, JRTC is a great opportunity to speak with SOF soldiers and listen to their experiences during the Q course. Additionally, going to JRTC will better prepare you for some of the challenges you will face in the Q course. If I was you, I would ask to speak with your 1SG and see if he can help facilitate you meeting some Green Berets while supporting the unit&#39;s rotation. If you are just looking for an excuse to get out of JRTC, I would strongly advise you against it. This type of behavior might get around to the SF Cadre and they really don&#39;t like individuals who are not team players. Additionally, you might want to review the pros vs. cons of having your PRK surgery prior to the Q course with your doctor.
