While DUI is a serious case, it's not always a career ender. Unless you're a repeat offender or other factors increase the severity of the incident you likely will stay in.

That said, you are going to face punishment.

Ultimately you can recover from the SGT, you just need to put in the work and show them this mistake will not ruin you, that you own what you did, and that you want to move forward and you want their guidance on moving forward with the Army. Honestly, prepare for both. You're gonna lose driving privileges. You're GONNA get an Article 15 and quite possibly a GOMOR. You may lose rank. This is gonna hurt you hard. It should hurt. Take the pain you about to get and move forward.

Other than that....STOP. CEASE. SEEK LAWYER. We fuck up. It's in our nature. But there are things that we fuck up on that we do, in fact, have control of. Getting a DUI is one of those things. You are a Leader. A Leader of Soldiers. How many damn times have you received a briefing to not drink and drive? How many times have you told your Soldiers not to drink and drive? Normally, this is where I would say something along the lines of "how you gonna look at your Soldiers and tell them not to drink and drive then you go and do it?" This. This right here is now the PERFECT training tool you have to teach your Soldiers on WHY they should NOT do this dumb shit. By no means am I saying that I am free from Sin. I can say that I have learned from the mistakes of my past. Will you be able to do the same? Can you do the same? As he was married it really hurt cause he had to be on base from 0500 to 2200 everyday and was woken at home every 2 houra just make sure he was there. Expect a GOMOR at the least that will affect your future promotions. If you were a SSG right now that would be a QMP notice that absolutely would be the end of your career.
