I don't mind being the a-hole "square" to call out this embarrassment to our uniformed services. Sure, the title may apply (sometimes) but this is not how our service members should be representing is. Especially when just recently the question of social media xonduct has been escalated ny the guys up top. Frankly, it's trashy as all hell. Not how we're supposed to conduct ourselves.

To me, there are a couple of issues here. First, it is the chain of command's responsibility to take action if they are wearing the uniform incorrectly or in a disrespectful manner. I am not sure there is anything wrong if they post a picture of themselves wearing the uniform correctly next to a tasteful picture of them in civilian dress and I doubt there is anything the chain of command can do. The second issue is the comments that people are giving to the pictures. Some are blatantly disrespectful to the women and that is wrong. But this is social media so I would hope that the ladies expected comments like that regardless of how right or wrong they may be.

Social media didn't exist when I was on active duty. However, from the Commandant to Fire Team Leader, the message was clear: You will represent yourself and the uniform well. If the service--member (regardless of sex) is unable, or unwilling to comply, you get a trip to see "the man." Police our own... and appropriately address those who cannot.

I read that many people thought the female lead in the new series "Quantico" was "too attractive" to be an FBI agent. my gut reaction was how far back can we go in sexism? Anyone have any trouble working for an attractive servicemember (male or female) in strictly professional settings? Would you question a legitimate order?

Like already posted, if pics are tasteful, then ok. When in uniform, then post correctly, not half on/half off or what ever. There are tasteful pics in civilian clothes, but there are also a few not right being posted in uniform. Should be address by CoC.

It is my hope that these women did not personally put their pics on this FB group. However, since some of those military folk were clearly going against (at least for the Army ones) several regs and guidelines. So, based on that, it is my hope that these pics will be seen by their CoC and the proper corrective actions taken.

Question, would there be the same outcry if it were male military, showing off hard earned bodies in similar manner? I am not sure. Thoughts on that?
I do fundamentally disagree with the "partial" uniform photos-as those are not in keeping with Military Bearing.. I would have to believe that some of those photos may come back to haunt. It is hard to claim the title of Professional when you are posting photos like some of those to a public website.....but then I am an old guy....and have old school values. And from looking at some of the posted comments attached to the pictures.....it is a mess.

Interesting topic. I am sure that the debate will go both ways on this one. Me personally, as I said, do not care for it. If the photos were posted privately and hijacked, that is an entirely separate issue.

**Does facebook have a responsibility to take them down? I am thinking no, unless they were not voluntarily posted. Gotta watch those privacy settings..

My initial instinct and gut reaction is: Who cares. If they have a need to feel attractive and desired, let them. They are clearly missing something in their lives and becoming an American warrior has not filled the gap.

People need what they need.

Now, I have NOT looked at the FB page yet. I'm at work and can't check it out. If they are disgracing the uniform, or our flag, etc., then I do have a problem with it.

So I guess what I'm trying to say is, I am indecisive and this response probably should have been held back. But I have no self control and therefor, I'm hitting the 'respond' button anyway.

I think the picture is bigger than these women taking "questionable" pics. You have troops of all branches and both sexes either taking pics or posting pics of others in/out/or in incomplete uniforms and there are sites that exploit them. They even call themselves going after the previous SMA when he called them out. The military is making regs that address this situation, but not enforcing them IMO. Some I can tell are staged and outright funny. Others even have me scratching my head like WTF? Local Commanders need to have those "come to Jesus" moments with their troops with the 1SG taking the "come to Jesus" talk to "You'll pass Jesus and be talking to me" in regards to online behavior. Some is funny I admit, and others are to the point where you question everything. If I can do that and my sense of humor is warped, I know a leader somewhere is shaking their heads hoping and praying whoever it is ISN'T theirs.

CW3 Private RallyPoint Member right now it is a difficult time for females in the military. The military is making an attempt to fully integrate women into fields which they have not previously been able to fill. As a red blooded guy, I love the female of the species. They are soft, nice to look at, and just good all the way around. That being said, this type of objectification reduces women to nothing more than eye candy. It detracts from the hard work that is put forth in service to this great nation. It detracts from the dedication needed to succeed in the military.

Do I think it is professional, absolutely not. Would I want my junior guys to see me that way? No not at all. But, so long as the uniform is worn in the correct manner there isn't much I can say to restrict it. I do find in counter productive to being seen as an equal though.

Nothing wrong with being proud but when you start showing T&A in uniform you got a problem. I don't see anything good about it. Want to show off your "ASSets", do it out of uniform. A lot of today's generation knows nothing about honor, respect, or morals. No wonder this nation has gone caput.
