Go to a board or SQT for promotion?

Go to a board for promotion or bring back the Skill Qualification Test? All ranks or just NCO/Officer's?

Board is fine. SQT would end up causing cheating....it is just the nature of the beast.

I honestly believe SQT should be reinstated. Let's weed out those that don't have the ability and knowledge-base to perform their job. Then, only after the SQT is successfully passed and proficiency is demonstrated, do you move to a board.

If we changed it, I'd recommend going towards the SDT (every year - regardless of promotion status) and a promotion board.

I took the sqt every year it was available between 78 and 93, never scored less than 96%, and each time the test was discontinued because too many nco's that were dummer than a box of rock did not make the grade
