George Santayana stated "Those who do not learn history are doomed to repeat it." Is this what is happening now?

Downsizing of the military has happened several times in our history most recently after the Vietnam War ended. How many of you out there feel that this is a repeat of history that will lead us into further military problems?

The Army is going through many courses of action to avoid making the same mistakes from the past. The planning and thought process continues to be worked on and revised as needed. We shall see how it works out and hopefully there won't be serious setbacks from the downsizing.

Great quote. It's one of my favorite sayings especially since it's very true. The actual wording though is "Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it" which comes from Santayana's 1905 book "The Life of Reason".
