GCSS Army for the people that have gotten it what are your thoughts? Is it much better than PBUSE?

SGT Private RallyPoint Member looking forward for responses, I'm stick to PBUSE, GCSS sounds kind of confusing. And they won't send us for training any soon.

From what Ive heard its supposed to make things easier for us but I have to admit Im nervous about the whole thing.

I can tell you this, I have fielded 2 "improved" systems between the Marines and the Army. There is nothing painless about it. It crashes, works intermittently, and tech support doesn't know how to fix it for years. Hell, they are still having problems with PBUSE bugs a decade after its introduction. I do like PBUSE though.

It wasn't designed for us....they say it was , but it wasn't....I have not personally used it, but several of my supply compadres have....they all say it's a nightmare....it's geared more towards the A's....makes their lives peachy, makes ours hell....what's new huh?

We're going live in October-VERY nervous! first we have on-line classes for certification and then AFTER the go-live we have twoweeks of resident training......I'm not feeling all warm and fuzzy....

Absolutely HORRIBLE system. My only hope is that soon the Army higher ups will see the lack of productivity in the units that have the system and scrap it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am wondering how much of the stuff I am doing to prepare for the conversion is going to matter. I assume it is like any other army idea and will be a mess. All this prep just to redo it once converted.

I am prior Air Force but have been working as a civilian for the Army for the past 11 years. I have used ULLS, SAMSE and PBUSE. I think PBUSE is the one thing the Army got right. I am currently going through the GCSS-Army training and I am so far not impressed at all. I cannot believe the amount of work it is going to take to do simple task such as lateral transfers, printing out hand receipts, download component hand receipts, getting balances (AD-HOC) of property and so much that could easily be performed in PBUSE. I am not happy with all the rewritten lingos such as material number versus saying NIIN or Force Elements instead of just labeling buttons that would say DODAAC/UIC etc. I am all for improving but why not just implement what PBUSE already does and keep all the terms we have used over all these years the same? This is going to be a long road lol. GCSS-Army is just basically a glorified GFEBS.

The system is a nightmare. Tasks I used to be able to accomplish with a few clicks on FLMS now require 3 windows and several minutes on GCSS. And forget the training, the classroom version they train you on is not the same as the actual live system. And the End User Manual (EUM+) is largely 4 years out of date and doesn't account for any of the updates made to the system since Dec 2012. What a lovely waste of money.

The GCSS Army is a bad system. this one will make life too complicated and i will be a waist of time, wish is not a luxury in our field.
